Harrison and the Obaika Racing team survived the Axalta Faster, Tougher, Brighter 200 at Phoenix International Raceway this past weekend to finish the race in the 30th position.
Rhodes started the race from the 38th position and once the green flag dropped he was able to make up some positions quickly and even avoid a wreck that happened early. During this first green flag run the car was loose on entry and the front end was lacking grip. When the first caution came out Rhodes pitted and changed tires, fueled the car, and made some adjustments.
The second green flag run the car was better and Harrison was able to make up even more positions on the track. When the next caution came out, Rhodes was able to take the wave around and gain a lap back. The team raced hard when the green flag came back out and during this run the car started handling like it did the first run, unstable in the rear end and a lack of grip in the front tires. Harrison raced hard in the final laps and was able to secure a 30th place finish.
"I'm happy we were able to finish our first race of the year and hopefully we can continue to improve from this point. Thank you to Obaika Racing and VroomBrands for the opportunity to drive the #97 Chevrolet."
